Privacy Policy

Recipeatz ("Recipeatz", "we", "us") is a personal kitchen-inventory and
recipe-management app for iOS, Android, and the web. This policy explains
what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you
have. By using Recipeatz you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to make the app work:
-
Account information. When you first open the app we
create an anonymous account so your data has a home. If you sign in
with Google or Apple, we receive the basic profile your provider shares
— typically your name and email address — to secure your account across
devices.
-
Content you create. Recipes you add or import, your
kitchen-inventory ("pantry") items, and your shopping lists. This
content is stored under your account.
-
Photos. When you add a recipe or kitchen item from a
photo, the image you capture or select is used to recognize the recipe
or ingredient. Recipe images you keep are stored with your recipes.
-
Voice and microphone. Features like Cook Mode and
"describe a recipe out loud" use your microphone. Speech is converted
to text on your device; the resulting text (not raw audio) may be sent
to our services to answer your question or build a recipe.
-
Imported content. When you import a recipe from a link
or pasted text, we fetch and process that content to extract a
structured recipe.
-
Usage and diagnostic data. Limited technical data
about how features are used, including counts of AI processing usage,
which we use to operate the service and manage costs.
2. How we use your information
- To provide the core features: storing recipes, tracking your kitchen, and building shopping lists.
- To recognize recipes and ingredients from links, text, photos, and voice.
- To sync your data across your devices when you are signed in.
- To maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the app.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
3. AI processing and third-party services
Some features rely on trusted third parties acting as our service
providers. Content you choose to process — such as recipe text, a recipe
photo, or a spoken recipe transcript — may be sent to them to generate
the result you asked for:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions) — account, storage, and backend.
- Cloudflare — hosts the backend service that imports recipes and processes AI requests.
- Anthropic (Claude) and Google (Gemini) — AI models that extract recipes and identify ingredients from the text, images, or transcripts you submit.
- Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple — optional account sign-in.
These providers process your information on our behalf and are not
permitted to use it for their own unrelated purposes. We share only what
is needed to perform the requested feature.
4. Storage and security
Your data is stored using Google Firebase infrastructure. Data is
transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and access to your
content is scoped to your account. No method of transmission or storage
is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your
information.
5. Sharing recipes
When you choose to share a recipe via a link, that recipe becomes
viewable by anyone who has the link, including through a read-only web
preview. Sharing is always something you initiate.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access and edit. You can view and edit your recipes, kitchen items, and lists at any time in the app.
- Delete your account and data. You can permanently delete your account and associated content from within the app (Profile → Delete account). Deletion removes your account-scoped data from our systems.
- Sign out. You can sign out at any time from the Profile screen.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as
access, correction, or deletion). To make a request, contact us using the
details below.
7. Data retention
We retain your content for as long as your account is active. When you
delete your account, your account-scoped content is deleted. Some limited,
aggregated, or de-identified operational data (for example, usage counts)
may be retained for service reliability and cost management.
8. Children's privacy
Recipeatz is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum
age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information
from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please
contact us so we can remove it.
9. International users
Recipeatz is operated using service providers that may process and store
data in the United States and other countries. By using the app, you
understand your information may be processed in locations with different
data-protection laws than your own.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise
the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may be communicated in
the app.
